Back To School Lunchbox Hacks

It’s that time of year again—time to get ready for back-to-school! With the start of a new school year, it’s important to make sure your kids are well nourished with healthy and tasty lunches. Here are some tips and tricks to make packing those lunchboxes easier:

  1. Get creative with leftovers. Those little containers can hold so much more than just a sandwich and a piece of fruit. Think beyond traditional combinations—try using last night’s dinner leftovers to create something fresh and new.

  2. Prep ahead on Sundays. Take an hour or two on Sunday afternoon or evening to dice vegetables, shred cheese, slice fruits, bake muffins, or make mini pizzas that can be frozen and thawed on-the-go.

  3.  Make it fun! Let your kids join in and help to create their own lunchbox masterpieces. Get creative with shapes, colours, and decorations for a lunch that’s both enjoyable to eat and visually appealing.

  4. Embrace convenience foods. With so many healthy pre-made options available now (think museli bars, yoghurt, sultanas), you don’t have to feel guilty about using them from time to time.

  5. Don’t forget the drinks! Water is always a great choice but there are plenty of other beverages out there that are both nourishing and delicious. Try packing some smoothies in thermos or investing in a reusable water bottle with infuser for variety.
