Spaghetti Bolognese

Method

  1. Put a large saucepan over medium heat. Add olive oil, onion, carrot and celery all finely diced.
  2. Stir often until all vegetables are soft. Increase the heat slightly and add mince meat and garlic. Cook for three minutes or until meat is browned.
  3. Add passata, diced tomatoes, basil, parmesan, red wine, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer.
  4. Leave to simmer on low-medium heat for 30 minutes (or until reduced), stirring occasionally.
  5. When the bolognese is nearly finished, cook the spaghetti by following the instructions on the packet. Strain the spaghetti.
  6. Add a small amount of bolognese to the spaghetti and stir through. Serve on a plate and top with more bolognese sauce. Add parmesan and enjoy with fresh bread!

  • 1 tbs Olive Oil
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 2 Carrots
  • 2 Celery Sticks
  • 3 Garlic Cloves
  • 250g Pork Mince
  • 250g Beef Mince
  • 680g Passata
  • 400g Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 tbs Basil
  • 75g Parmesan (Grated)
  • 125ml Red Wine
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 400g Spaghetti
  •
