Method

  1. Begin by lightly toasting the hot cross buns until they're warm and have a gentle crunch to the exterior. Set them aside to cool slightly.
  2. On a large wooden board or platter, artfully arrange the variety of crackers, allowing for different textures and shapes to entice the eye.
  3. Place each type of cheese on the board, ensuring there is a knife or spreader for each. Include a brie at room temperature, a wedge of crumbly aged cheddar, a log of creamy goat cheese, and a robust blue cheese for variety.
  4. Intersperse the board with bunches of fresh grapes, offering both colour and a juicy palate cleanser.
  5. Add the fresh strawberries and quartered figs around the board, creating clusters of colours that both decorate and tempt the taste buds.
  6. Fan out the apple slices near the cheeses that pair well with the fruit's crispness, such as the cheddar and goat cheese.
  7. Finally, nestle the toasted hot cross buns on the board; their spiced, sweet flavours will complement the cheese selection wonderfully.
